Salsa Traditions in The Caribbean

Using native instruments and recordings, Jose Obando discusses the rich cultural influence that Africa, Europe, and indigenous populations have on Caribbean Islands, and how those influences combine to create the rhythms and melodies distinctive to the region. Mr. Obando is a curator for the musical instrument collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
